International Compact for Iraq
It is hard to find amongst the numerous articles just what conclusion we are to draw from the latest conference concerning Iraq which occured in Egypt. It's all very superficial reporting, aimed at demonizing Russia to look oil greedy in the extreme. My conclusion ... Russia IS oil greedy IN THE EXTREME.
But digging does not give you a CLUE as to what this means in terms of the US War grinding down. (It doesn't NEED to wind down; the US can just keep funding the protection of US oil companies and pay the Blackwater Guards instead.)
However, the Iraqi government is totally lacking in legitimacy and integrity and has no mind to help its terror-ized people in any way at all.
"We consider this conference in Sharm el-Sheikh to be an
international show of support for Iraq, and the main aim of the
International Compact is to rebuild a unified, democratic and federal
Iraq and to distribute its wealth fairly," Maliki said."We call on all participating countries to cancel Iraq's debt in
order to allow it to begin the building and development and to fix the
destroyed infrastructure,” he added.
Yeah, right.
SO here are a few links for the curious (and you SHOULD BE, the oil "game" going on is gonna be affecting your lives far far beyond the price of gas at the oil pump for decades to come) on the LATEST:
Reuters:
South African news
Turkish Weekly - good article, but they are pro US
NewsBlaze
Aljazeera
As always, you will find many more references to what is going on. There are links there with information on the nationalization of oil "issue" and proposed "legislation" in Iraq.
Then there are Chinese sources: xinhuanet
Lots and lots of business mag sources (forget those and the BBC)
Some Gulf newspapers.
And I think I will bulldoze and see if I can find a translated version of something from the Russian Press.
And finally, and perhaps MOST importantly, let's hear from the Iranians .. that's from 3 days ago, and I cannot find a single more current source coming from them.. Condi is supposed to meet with them and the Syrians.
mullahs
announced that "Iran will not negotiate with the United States until it
stops its 'evil approach'," two days before the two nations were due to
attend a meeting on Iraq.
Iranian Government spokesman Gholam Hossein:There must have been a division full of photographers attending, btw.
"So long as the US does
not renounce its attitude and oppressive and satanic vision, the
problems will not be solved," he said.
