Earth changes in Maui!!

Post from Maui resident complains of lack of news:

SEVERE WEATHER ON MAUI - TRAPPED
Date: Saturday, 2 February 2008, 4:08 p.m.
Unbelievable weather here on Maui especially on the northshore near Huelo and Haiku. Lived here 15 years and never seen anything like this. Every road leading to town has been taken over by overflowing rivers. We attempted it with the videocam but turned around when part of our road was taken over by a fat river. Cars and trucks foolish enough to attempt the crossing were engulfed within minutes. Some of our neighbors' garages and homes have a foot of water. Hillsides have become new waterfalls.
Plenty of food and water at my house to handle being stuck here for a good week......(but I'd rather not be)
Weirdest thing: The news isn't reporting it. People running all over the place trying to barracade the floods from their houses....no news on the local TV about it.....don't want to worry them tourists I guess.
Photos coming soon

Only news I could find:

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the flood advisory for east Maui until 1:15 p.m.
At 10:10 a.m., a spotter reported heavy rain at Makawao. Also, radar shows occasional heavy rain along the Hana coast. The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary.

Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Pukalani, Nahiku, Huelo, Haliimaile and Makawao.

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot. Turn around, don't drown.
This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1:15 p.m. if heavy rain persists.
