PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Manitoba (AP) - Police in Canada say they arrested a 40-year-old man who allegedly stabbed and beheaded a seatmate aboard a bus.
Witnesses say other bus passengers fled in horror as the attack took place late Wednesday night aboard a Greyhound bus en route from Edmonton, Alberta, to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the suspect was captured as he tried to escape from the bus early Thursday about three hours after the violence.
Authorities declined to provide details beyond that the victim had been stabbed. They said a motive hadn't been determined and refused to identify the suspect or the victim.
One passenger says the victim was asleep with headphones on as the attack began.
A passenger, the bus driver and a trucker who stopped secured the bus door to prevent the alleged attacker's escape.
