MacKay Says Canada to Keep Pushing NATO for Afghanistan Troops
By Theophilos Argitis and Greg Quinn
July 30 (Bloomberg) -- Canadian Defence Minister Peter MacKay said he'll keep lobbying North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies to send troops into southern Afghanistan to help the 2,500 combat troops his country has in the region.
``NATO has to do more,'' MacKay said while speaking to reporters in Quebec during a meeting of members of the governing Conservative Party. ``Southern Afghanistan is the flashpoint in this mission. We aren't going to let up or relent with our requests'' for more NATO troops in region, he said.
