Iran's Japan ambassador, Abbas Araqchi
Iranian ambassador to Japan Abbas Araqchi says the suspension of uranium enrichment has no place in his country's proposed package.

"There is no reason whatsoever that Iran halts its nuclear activities," he said, rejecting the suspension of enrichment in his country's nuclear agenda.

He added Iran's proposed package, which would be unveiled soon, is in response to the West's package of incentives.

The six major powers, the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, decided May 2 in London to present a new offer to Iran to persuade it to halt its nuclear activities.

The UN Security Council has so far slapped three rounds of sanctions against Iran for uranium enrichment.

He predicted the West's new package of incentives would be a fruitless attempt to resolve Tehran's nuclear issue as it only aims to deprive Iran of its inalienable rights.

Iran is a signatory to the Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT), which allows its members to do peaceful nuclear activities.

Iran's proposed package, which covers nuclear issues as well as security, political and economic ones, provides a new opportunity for the global community to discuss the world's major concerns with the Islamic Republic, he concluded.
