ACTIVISM ALERT: Feith to do ME forum luncheon

Forthcoming Events

The Middle East Forum sponsors events in Philadelphia, New York City, Boston and Cleveland. Each of these provides a non-partisan platform to consider the controversial issues of a volatile region from the perspective of a leading actor - heads of state, ministers, leading parliamentarians, mayors, and others - or a respected analyst - such as historian Bernard Lewis or journalist Claudia Rosett. Our goal is to discuss a current event or situation by delving deeper than what is offered by the media. Lecture topics span a wide spectrum but consistently look at the Middle East with a pragmatic eye and from the vantage point of American interests.

War and Decision

New York, NY
Cost: $50 per person (lunch included.) Complimentary for MEF donors of $500 or more in 2007

The Middle East Forum is pleased to present Douglas J. Feith to discuss his new book, War and Decision: Inside the Pentagon at the Dawn of the War on Terrorism (HarperCollins). It chronicles his experiences as undersecretary of defense for policy in the Bush administration, 2001-05, formulating policy at the highest levels of the U.S. government through critical stages of the wars in Iraq and against radical Islam.

Mr. Feith was at the center of policy decisions in these areas. He told The New Yorker that when historians look back, "I want to be in the class of people who did the right thing, the sensible thing, and not necessarily the fashionable thing." National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley called Mr. Feith "an example of honesty, decency, and integrity."

Now professor and distinguished practitioner in national security policy at Georgetown University, Mr. Feith previously served in several capacities in the Reagan administration. His articles on foreign and defense affairs have appeared in the Middle East Quarterly as well as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Commentary. He was educated at Georgetown University and Harvard College.
