Turkey, US, Neo Cons, PKK, KRG. The Kurdish Oil Question
Kurdishaspect.com - By Hevallo
Is 2008 the year that The Oil Question in Kurdistan maybe settled?
The US and Turkey are lining up together as a military and political force. Turkey and the US are leading the military and psychological war against the Kurdish Freedom Movement.
Abdullah Gul is on his way to the US to cement the relationship that is looking to 'solve' the Kurdish Question in Turkey by sheer military force, so as to open up Turkey as a 'energy corridor' to the West.
Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution guaranteed a referendum on the political status of Kirkuk and surrounding areas, supposedly to take place in Dec 2007. It has been postponed and many people believe that is will never happen.
Exxon Mobil have just bought 730,000 barrels of Kirkuk oil from 'Iraq' bypassing' the Kurdish Regional Government and are ready to 'tender' for more Iraqi oil concessions at the end of this month. Exxon Mobil already pump oil from Kirkuk under an existing contract. Exxon Mobil also own 51% of Turkey's biggest oil refinery run by Anadolu Tasfiyehanesi AS
American Enterprise Institute are leading the arguments in the US about 'Turkey's right to defend itself against the PKK' and arguing for greater US aid to Turkey. Again today, in The Washington Times editorial Michael Rubin's arguments are being put forward in the mainstream US media.
Michael Rubin is a paid employee of the American Enterprise Institute, that is funded by Exxon Mobil to sway foreign policy in its favor. Paul Wolfowitz, the architect of the Iraqi occupation, is also a member of AEI. As is Richard Perle named only today by Sibel Edmonds as implicated in a criminal scandal that involves Turkish Lobbyists in the US, Turkish MIT Agents and Top US Politicians.
This from an article in The Guardian about the AEI:
"....by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), an ExxonMobil-funded think-tank with close links to the Bush administration....."
"....The AEI has received more than $1.6m from ExxonMobil and more than 20 of its staff have worked as consultants to the Bush administration. Lee Raymond, a former head of ExxonMobil, is the vice-chairman of AEI's board of trustees."
As readers of Hevallo will know, these arguments have gone from the 'fringes' (remember Scott Sullivan) to mainstream in just less than 11 months time following a PR/Psychological warfare campaign. This is all a cover for US support for Turkey and a possible US/Turkish invasion of Kurdistan.
Military and political pressure being mounted at precisely the time when Iraq is receiving 'tenders' for granting oil concessions.
Unfortunately, what the policy makers in The Hudson Institute, American Enterprise Institute and any other Neo Con 'Think Tank' have not 'thought' about is the necessity of a peaceful and political resolution to the Kurdish Question in order that Turkey can become the energy hub to the West that they are all pushing for.
Because if they honestly believe that they can solve militarily, what Turkey, supported by the whole Western world, have failed to do in the last 28 years, then they are going to be bitterly disappointed and the shares in their oil companies are going to plummet when they are faced with the associated difficulties of a continued conflict in the oil producing region.
Will 2008 be the year that the Oil Question in Kurdistan is settled?
I doubt that very much. Unless of course the Turkish/US Neo Con alliance realize that they need to solve the Kurdish Question peacefully, so Turkey can become the 'energy hub' that they aspire to be.
