IMPEACHMENT TOOLKIT: Replace Nancy Pelosi

Our efforts to replace Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House

Dear XXXXXXX,

Mia Hamel suggested I write you with this information. My name is Scott Creighton and I, like so many others, am deeply concerned about the state of union. We are traveling down a dangerous path in this country that has no true historical equivalent in the short history of this “great experiment” of self governance and rule.

We are witness to the most criminal presidential administration in our history; of that there is no doubt and little argument. Yet, for reasons unknown, our congress is unwilling to fulfill their constitutional obligation to hold them accountable and to check their criminal behavior by means of the only tool left us; impeachment.

This dereliction of duty on the part of the leaders of congress is a self-imposed construct with no real basis in either historical record or legal precedent.

There is no good argument for not proceeding with the impeachment hearings of Vice President Cheney nor President Bush. No good argument that doesn’t involve the personal political ambitions of our chosen leaders in congress. And that is unacceptable.

As these self same leaders vicariously commit our troops to more combat and risk of life and limb by not interceding in this administration’s aggressive and even criminal behavior, they themselves are unwilling to risk even the most mundane and trivial aspect of themselves; their jobs.

Once I came to this understanding of their reluctance to proceed with the impeachment hearings, I knew that I must take some action to try to set right this egregious disregard for the rule of law and the will of the majority of the American people.

But I am not contacting you to rehash what you have obviously known for some time.

I have contacted you to ask for your support in an effort to replace Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.

There is a little known process under House Rules IX that allows for declaring certain seats “vacant” in the House of Representatives.

Put forward as a matter of High Constitutional Privilege and brought as a question of personal privilege, any member of the House can declare the Speaker seat vacant based on several criteria. First and foremost among these is to defend the integrity and the honor of the proceedings of the House. Another is in the event of impeachment.

I wrote a petition several weeks ago and have not really been looking to press the issue until Rep. Wexler’s efforts had played out in the Judicial Committee, one way or the other. But now, it is clear that both Conyers and Pelosi are committed to “staying the course” with this criminal regime until the Nov. election cycle is complete.

We have nearly 3000 signatures on a verifiable on-line petition site, who have signed on to say this is enough, we will not accept any reason for ignoring the constitution anymore.

The petition is a long one; nearly three pages. It sets forth the desire to replace Mrs. Pelosi as well as outlining the process for doing so by referencing the House Rules sections that are applicable as well as the Jefferson Manual and the Constitution itself.

Please read this petition and consider helping to spread the word. And read some of the comments that have signed on for this effort; they are probably the best arguments for her removal. They are the direct voices of the frustration of the American people.

I ask for no money and I have no advertisement fees associated with this.

When it is time, hopefully in March, I will have the site administrators verify and print the petition and the signatures, at my own cost, and I will travel to DC to deliver as many copies of it as I can, to any Democratic Representative that may present the question of privilege before the House.

And I will personally deliver a copy to Nancy Pelosi herself and demand her resignation as Speaker of the House on the grounds that she is in violation of her oath of office and that she is derelict in her highest duty to defend the constitution of the United States.

Your support in this effort would be tremendously helpful. I came upon your information through another committed activist like yourself, Mia Hamel.

By working to replace Pelosi, we will show the members of the House that we are determined to reclaim the rule of law in the White House, no matter what the cost. This may give these representatives the incentive they have been waiting for to take a stand with us against the pressures that hold them in check and stand to erode the foundations of our democracy.

This “grand experiment” of a constitutional republic must survive and we must take direct action to see that it does.
