CANADIAN MILITARY FAMILIES, US WAR VETERANS,
LABOUR AND PEACE GROUPS TO
PROTEST BUSH VISIT TO CANADA

Toronto: The Canadian Peace Alliance, Canada's largest peace group, is
holding a press conference this Saturday August 18th in Ottawa. The
conference will feature Andria Hill-Lehr, a Canadian military Mom against
the war in Afghanistan and Iraq war Veterans from the United States.
Together they will be marching to demonstrate their opposition to war and to
the visit of President George Bush to Canada.

Speakers will include:

a.. Andria Hill-Lehr - Mother of a Canadian soldier who returned to Canada
on June 29 from a 6-month deployment in Kandahar. She is the Nova Scotia rep
for the Voice of Women (VOW) for Peace.
b.. James Brewmeister - a former US soldier and Iraq war combat veteran
who has come to Canada in opposition to the war in Iraq.
c.. James Clancy - President of the National Union of Public and General
Employees.
d.. Deborah Bourque - President, Canadian Union of Postal Workers.
e.. Peter Liebovich - United Steelworkers.
f.. Christine Jones - Co-Chair of the Canadian Peace Alliance.


In Canada and the US there is growing opposition to the policies of the Bush
administration and the so-called "War on Terror". The summit meeting between
George Bush, Stephen Harper and Mexican President Phillipe Calderon, will
further codify Canadian support for the US security agenda against the
wishes of the majority of Canadians.
