IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE, IT'S A ... “UAV”?!?! … by Iakoha’ko:wa

MNN. May 4, 2008. The Ottawa Citizens reported on January 22, 2008, that "The Canadian military has earmarked $220 million to build a new base for the Joint Task Force 2 counter-terrorism unit, with plans calling for the secretive formation to move out of Ottawa sometime after 2010.... Hillier recommended that JTF2's new base be located at Canadian Forces Base Trenton." [[From "Counter-terrorism unit..." by David Pugliese]

Just when we thought that the human race has finally advanced to a point where everyone realized that the military solution was no solution at all. Now Rick Hillier has rescued “war games” from the dust bin. Canadian taxpayers are now forced to neglect repairs to roads, sewage systems and infrastructures of hospitals and schools, cut down education and all the legitimate concerns of the people. How juvenile this is? These little boys want to keep playing video games. There’s no “restart game” button to restore the lives that were lost or the environment that was polluted by their delusions that problems can be solved if you shoot ‘em up and blast ‘em to kingdom come.

With all the absurd but potentially lethal commotion at the Mohawk community of Tyendinaga lately, 20 minutes from Trenton CFB, we have to wonder if there may be some connection to this military game playing. Why do they want to waste so much of taxpayers’ money for those SWAT-OPP gangs to go into Tyendinaga to harass, beat and arrest people for no good reason?.

Defence Construction Canada is the Crown corporation that builds new military bases. It answers to Michael Fortier, the Minister of Public Works and Government Services. He’s NOT an elected Member of Parliament, though he’s run for office. He has a background in investment banking and worked for Ogilvy Renault, a law firm with offices in Montreal. It’s obviously a money-making scheme for someone and it’s being sold though an appeal to adolescent adrenaline.

The Deputy Minister is Francois Guimont, also an appointed career bureaucrat. The DM "provides the overall vision and direction for the department, and oversees 12,000 employees..." According to the Ottawa Citizens these guys provide the “overall vision”. In other words, forget about democracy. Canadians are not war-like. this is a bill of goods that’s being stuffed down people’s throat. This is not a product of public discussion. We have not hear of Canadians calling for a greater use of arms. Guimont worked in the Privy Council Office and the Ministry of the Environment. [He's a "bottom feeder"!]

Defence Construction Canada (DCC) deals with one client only, the Department of National Defense (DND). Scott Stevenson is the ADM/IE (Assistant Deputy Minister/Infrastructure & Environment). He oversees all the details of everything for the military! He’s a military man, a graduate of Queens University and an economist. This “mega gamester” has made it into the big league. He’s living every megalomaniac school boy’s dream.

Rem Westland, another “gamster” held the position of ADM/IE in 1998-99 while he was Director General of Realty Policy and Plans from 1997-2003 at DND. It wouldn’t surprise us if he worked with Stevenson.

Westland has a cottage on Sharbot Lake, 40 minutes north of Kingston. In an exclusive interview with MNN he admitted that Sharbot Lake is Haudenosaunee land. But why is he keeping quiet while a phony Algonquin land claim plays itself out? Westland’s background puts him in a strategic position for whatever military plans are underway to develop the area.

Just this week, we heard on the news how manufacturing jobs in Ontario are down from 80,000 in 2001 to 60,000 in 2007. GM has just laid off 1000 skilled workers at its Oshawa plant, the other side of Trenton. Will the GM workers end up building the new training base that DCC will oversee quite likely at Trenton? Someone’s got to have the answer.

Pugliese stated, "Public Works and Government Services Canada has already purchased three properties [about 130 hectares] adjacent to CFB Trenton for the Defense Department... Another 270 hectares are also being looked at for purchase."

What kind of training will go on at this new base? The military has so many new lethal toys to test. It could involve nuclear submarines and ships in Lake Ontario or planes overhead. Trenton has a big airport. With so much buzz in the military news these days about UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicles), we wonder if that has something to do with it.

People should know about those little UAV's, what they look like and what they can do. You never know when you might see one and wonder what it is.

UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES

UAV's are a growing part of 21st century warfare. They are mostly used in surveillance roles but also can be equipped to attack targets by remote control, sometimes at great distance. They are widely used by the occupation forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Imaginative names are given to UAV's like “Raven”, “Hawk” and “Warrior”. The smallest UAV's can be put into a back pack and assembled on the ground by one person. They look like toy planes. Some UAV's can stay in the air for days and travel at speeds up to 200km/hr. Depending on how they are powered, they can be very quiet. The Canadian military uses the Skylark I, a small UAV made by Elbit, an Israeli company and sold to DND by Thales Systems Canada which has offices in Ottawa and Kingston.

The Skylark was designed to spy on the Palestinians. It can "look over the hill" and "around the corner" and record images day or night. It is durable in all weather conditions. Elbit's larger Hermes UAV can shoot and drop bombs.

According to the Elbit web site, "Skylark I can be used for both defense and homeland security applications including perimeter security, border and coastal surveillance, anti-terrorism surveillance and a variety of “law enforcement” “missions" like attacking Indigenous communities. Like hey! You wouldn’t want these guys to be deprived of fun just because was no legitimate targets, would you?

A device called a "ShotSpotter" can be mounted on a UAV in order to detect exactly where a shot has been fired from. It requires sensors that are placed on rooftops or street poles. It's used by various US Police Departments like Rochester, NY in Haudenosaunee Territory and Minneapolis, MN in Lakota Territory.

Could they be trying out the UAV's on the Mohawks at Tyendinaga? It doesn't sound like their toys work on those who keep pulling disappearing acts. Maybe their “peeping tom” toys don’t work on the socially “invisible” Indigenous? Since the colonists don’t want peaceful solutions, these guys think this is just another “technological challenge” to ‘git’ us!

This must be a joke. First they spent billions of dollars trying to kill us off, to make us invisible, deleting us from their history books and refusing us a fair say. Now they’re spending billions trying to build a technology of infra red heat seeking missiles and high tech gadgets to find those of us who survived their genocide. Don’t these idiots know we’re human beings? Nothing justifies treating us like targets.

Ontario Algonquin uranium protest chief is jailed

Friends,
As you know, US corporate integration of our energy and resources, including nuclear, is happening now under the SPP.
www.fighturanium.com notes that Nevada-based Canam Uranium has taken over El Nino Ventures, and its uranium mining/ exploration claims throughout the Haliburton and Bancroft regions of Ontario (nice maps at http://www.canamuranium.com/ ), as well as in Saskatchewan and BC. US-based Bancroft Uranium is also active in Ontario.
The article below refers to the situation north of Sharbot Lake, Ontario, in the Kingston area.

First Nations and community activists in the region have been holding events and Chief Lovelace has been a key negotiator.
Details can be found at www.ccamu.ca .
At the same time, NATO officials are considering a proposal to engage in first strike nuclear warfare. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jan/22/nato.nuclear . The proposal will be discussed at NATO meetings in Bucharest in April.
"Maybe we are going to use nuclear weapons before anyone else, but I'd be wary of saying it out loud."- Robert Cooper, an influential shaper of European foreign and security policy in Brussels. [from the Guardian article noted.]
The proposal is utter insanity, and much has been said already to oppose this 'option', in our circles at least, which would likely use Canadian ore for the task. You may know that Saskatchewan uranium ore was used for the Hiroshima/Nagasaki nuclear bombs. Now NATO is considering bombing Iran's Bushehr civilian nuclear power plant as well, in a 'nuke them first' strategy for the Middle East, an intentional Chernobyl. Such an action would, 'fortuitously' for the western uranium industry, force Iran and terrify others into purchasing their 'products'.
Cameco Inc. of Port Hope, Ontario is self-described as "the world's largest uranium producer". http://www.cameco.com/investor_relations/about_us/ .
It processes Canada's ore, and that of international mines, and re-processes uranium products from and for the rest of the world.
Radioactive imagery shows the Port Hope region literally glowing from historic nuclear waste that has not been cleaned up. (See links from http://www.ph-fare.com/ and http://www.porthopehealthconcerns.com/ ).
The historic mines in central Ontario are all now Radioactive waste storage facilities under federal licence, Faraday in Bancroft, the Bicroft mine and the Dyno mine in Haliburton, are all contaminated.
Arizona-based Bancroft Uranium Inc. http://www.bancrofturanium.com/ is exploring 'their claim' on the Irondale River in Haliburton, which feeds into the Trent River, and into Lake Ontario. In addition to water contamination, radioactive dust is spewn throughout the region during mining. Ultimately we're all 'downstream' or 'downwind', once the stuff is released.
There are many intersecting issues at this time: war, corporate deals like the SPP (Slavery Under Private Power), vs. human rights and environmental protection.
Supporting First Nations in joint struggles is a central grounding in our collective work.
thanks for your consideration of these issues,
Leigh

Algonquin chief to serve jail term

By Bruce Ward, Ottawa Citizen

Published: Friday, February 15, 2008

An aboriginal leader who defied the law by staging protests at a potential uranium mining site near Sharbot Lake was sentenced Friday to six months in jail for contempt of court.

The jail sentence makes Robert Lovelace, co-chief of Ardoch Algonquin First Nation, "a political prisoner," said lawyer Chris Reid, who represented Mr. Lovelace in the case.

"Bob Lovelace is a political prisoner and he is in jail because (Ontario Premier) Dalton McGuinty and (Aboriginal Affairs Minister) Michael Bryant refused to consult with this community. The Ardoch Algonquin have made numerous proposals to Mr. McGuinty and Mr. Bryant to have discussions to peacefully resolve the issue around uranium mining in their territory."

Mr. Reid said Mr. McGuinty and Mr. Bryant never responded to the Ardoch Algonquin proposals.

"They instructed their lawyers to sit in court this week and say nothing while the lawyers for the mining company asked for six-month jail terms and punitive fines. The fact that Mr. Lovelace is in jail today is one hundred per cent the fault of Mr. McGuinty and Mr. Bryant.

Paula Sherman, co-chief of the Ardoch Algonquin, was also sentenced to six months by Justice Douglas Cunningham in a Kingston court yesterday after being found guilty of contempt of court.

But Ms. Sherman, the single mother of three children, was spared jail time in return for agreeing to obey the court injunctions. This means she must stay away from the site and not participate in any protests there.

Mr. Lovelace was also fined $25,000, and Ms. Sherman $15,000. Although Ms. Sherman will not be behind bars, the judge ruled that she must pay the fine.

Both co-chiefs had admitted taking part in protests on the property, near Sharbot Lake, Ont., about 60 kilometres north of Kingston. Two court rulings had granted Frontenac Ventures Corp., a mining exploration company, access to the site to carry out test drilling for uranium.

Protesters from both the Shabot Obaadjiwan and Ardoch Algonquin First Nations occupied the disputed site from late June to mid-October last year, defying court injunctions that ordered them off the site and gave police the authority to arrest them.

The Algonquin protesters maintain the site is on their land. They are concerned that uranium drilling could lead to environmental contamination.

The occupation ended after the Ontario government agreed to mediation talks. But the protests began again this month after those talks failed.

Mr. Reid also said the Algonquin community was also fined $10,000.

"This is a community that has no funding from anywhere. They raise money through concerts and bake sales. They are not funded by the federal government. So they'll lose out. The community is essentially bankrupted by this decision."

The statement of defence in the case, which challenged the constitutional validity of the Ontario Mining Act, was struck out by the judge.

"When your statement of defence is struck out, you're gone," said Mr. Reid. "You can't bring motions, you can't do anything.

"The punishment for contempt of court is all about punishing people because, instead of going to court to seek remedies against the government, they used what he (the judge) called self-help. It seems utterly perverse to me to say were going to punish you for that by kicking you out court. This kind of decision, it leaves people nothing to lose. Any rational person would ask, if you're going to kick people out of the court, how can you then expect them to not use self-help?"

The blockade began when the Algonquins discovered that Frontenac Ventures Corporation had begun removing trees and blasting rock to prepare for exploration for uranium near Sharbot Lake.

My computer went kaput totally. So I've been working at other stuff for
over a week. I now have a "proper" computer at long last, btw.

Tonight I got the following message. But just a few words of
explanation.

George Ure is a people's economist of incredible reputation. I TRUST
him. He is, perhaps, a seventh generation prophet. He had this idea
with another guy to do a supercomputer run of millions of sites around
the internet . and they would take out ALL references to the past, and
only use sentences written in the present tense or those written in the
future tense to determine linguistically a sort of futurist universal
prediction project/service.

He took this idea to the US Department of Defense and offered to do it
for them as a consultant. They turned him down, so what he did was do
it anyway, but sell the information to clients (wealthy investors) who
would want the information these computer runs turned up. The
predictions, while a bit hazy at times get really intereting .. things
about volcanoes (the big one hasn't happened yet), things about the
appearance of this woman Elvira for instance, show up in advance ... if
Elvira Arellano isn't the untainted, non-partisan woman who the
linguistics have making headlines about now
<http://www.ipsnews. net/news. asp?idnews= 39055>

But this below came out tonight .. and we'll all see if it comes to pass
... remember this is based on thousands of websites, millions of words
having been gone through, world wide ... (This is the guy who alerted me
to the ammo shortage ...)
