STOP THE WAR COALITION/NATIONAL OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

SAT MARCH 18

"Shock & Awe" Invasion
3rd Anniversary
(the one that covered europe in depleted uranium dust 3 days later)
Global Days of Action Protest
IN 200 CITIES AROUND THE WORLD - INCLUDING BAGHDAD AND BASRA HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PROTESTORS WILL BE DEMANDING THAT
ALL FOREIGN TROOPS LEAVE IRAQ NOW, AND THE IRAQI PEOPLE BE FREE TO DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES HOW THEY WISH TO BE GOVERNED

In the UK tens of thousands of us will be in Parliament Square,
also to show our unequivocal opposition to any attack on Iran

Are You "Moving On” Or Are You
Going All the Way On This One?

On the 3rd anniversary of the Iraq invasion, Tony Blair wants you to "move on". He wants you to forget the lies about weapons of mass destruction that didn’t exist, to forget the tens of thousands of Iraqis who have died because he and George Bush made a secret agreement to wage war on an almost defenceless country, to forget the 2,300 dead US soldiers and the many thousands more who have been seriously injured and probably mentally unstabled for life, to forget the 103 British soldiers killed and the hundreds more injured and probably mentally unstabled for life, to forget Abu Ghraib and the other secret prisons into which thousands of Iraqis have "disappeared" to be tortured and abused in the name of "freedom" and "democracy".

Tony Blair wants you ignore an occupation which has brought nothing to the Iraqi people except ever increasing death and destruction and which now threatens to tear the country apart in sectarian division.

To "move on", as Tony Blair insists, would allow war criminals to escape with impunity from international laws which should see them behind bars. Worse still, it would embolden them as they contemplate further wars in Iran, in Syria and who knows where else.

We will also be calling for those who have waged illegal war in Iraq to be brought to account. That is why, among the events we have planned for Parliament Square, at the start of our march will be a mass signing in support of the submission by Tony Benn and others, who wrote to the United Nations and the British attorney general to call for a tribunal into the legality of the invasion of Iraq and into breaches of international law, such as:

* The abuse and torture at Abu Ghraib and other prisons;
* The use of banned weapons such as cluster bombs, depleted uranium and
white phosphorous;
* The indiscriminate attacks on civilians and collective punishment;
* The failure to record the number of civilians killed in the war;
* The deliberate attacks on hospitals and ambulances;
* The expropriation of Iraq's resources.

JOIN YOUR VOICE WITH THOSE WHO WILL NOT "MOVE ON"
UNTIL THE WARMONGERS ARE HELD TO ACCOUNT
AND THE THREAT OF FURTHER WARS IS REMOVED.
