Another example of NEOCON insensitivity in Canada

Only comments: Nothing could be worse for Canada then these neocons. Rude, brutish, ignorant, arrogant and major ripoff artists themselves.

This minister never worked hard a day in his life; he's just a TAKER.

Tory MP apologizes for 'hurtful' remarks about natives

OTTAWA — A swift apology from the Conservative MP who said native people need to learn the value of hard work more than they need compensation did little to shine the tarnish on his boss's historic outreach a day earlier.

A chastened Pierre Poilievre stood in the House of Commons on Thursday to fully retract remarks which were shocking both for their content and timing.

He drew intense outrage Wednesday with comments on an Ottawa radio show made just hours before Prime Minister Stephen Harper offered a moving apology for generations of racist policy in residential schools.

"Yesterday, on a day when the House and all Canadians were celebrating a new beginning, I made remarks that were hurtful and wrong," he said.

"I accept responsibility for them and I apologize."

Indian Affairs Minister Chuck Strahl switched seats to be next to Poilievre and shook his hand in a show of support that further riled opposition MPs.

In his radio interview, Poilievre questioned the value of residential schools compensation.

"Now, along with this apology, comes another $4 billion in compensation for those who partook in the residential schools over those years," he said.
