Pacific quake rattles New Zealand; the lesson!!

I think it can be safely said that the tectonic plates ARE shifting. This is not a "wrinkle" in the earth's surface "event": This is a hardcore event, one of a series at the plate site. So while there has been no human life lost, no tsunami or other byproduct, it is probably that this is not the last of the activity we will be seeing in upcoming days. A 7.9 quake is a major "quake". If you look at the links on this site you will see many, MANY posts on earthchanges and a whack of information posted over a long period.

If you are a new reader, and aren't familiar with my work, you might want to know that we follow such events very closely, both because of the social turmoil that results from these events but also because I am very much of the mind that earthchanges affect people both consciously and unconsciously as well. Also, because to do real fine tuning of what may befall human beings CAN actually be well predicted if you factor in all the forces shaping their lives. - reinforcing the idea we are all GLOBAL CITIZENS.

I mean that in the sense that its no longer works to be isolationist culturally. No, I am no ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT person, but we do form a global soul. What we do with that information is to strengthen our commitment to our political entities so that human rights can be assured; it's not about patriotISM at all!

I subscribe to the belief that we are all products of MASS TRAUMA, and so to avoid being traumatized we have to come out of all forms of delusion, denial, rationalization and minimization of REALITY.

Over the course of time, I am a firm believer that things have gone downhill since the finding of oil in Pennsylvania very rapidly - technology made possible by the coming of the internal combustion engine (which makes no sense at all, not really) has so outstripped the human capacity to make soul sense should be obvious to anyone. The education and propaganda "systems" make that totally impossisble the rich who accumulated all this money have seen to that; and the educators are as blind to reality as anyone. Our brains are "hard wired" to accept things being fed to us in isolated little boxes, as well. We know longer rely on our intutitions except PRIVATELY.

As an earthling, in response to these tremendous "social forces" can only salute the slogan(s):

REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE
RETHINK!

This last being the one often omitted and, increasingly, as frightenly, to be co-opted by real anti-people forces. George H.W. BuZh is now one of it's leading proponants. There are currently way over 1 million google links to the word Rethink. That should lead to some rethinking, eh??!!

And that is perhaps the MOST Important one of the four.
Reuse has over 4 million google links
recycle has 3.5 million.
reduce has 31 million google links!!

Mother Earth's shouting a message at us on a daily basis. But we have yet to catch up. People are still moving to coastal areas, continuing to build on top of tech plates - they stay in harm's way - in way. Billions upons (I think trillions) are spent on intelligence gathering to keep King Oil on the top of the economic heap, and precious little on real analysis of EARTH FORCES, so that humans can be helped ahead of time before the geologic Holocaust. This, to my mind is a form of "war crime". When we get together to endorse someone to be the "leader of the free world" - someone to be the head executive of the United States, we should bear this in mind. Do they know what they are talking about? Do they pay attention to the whole Big Picture?

Sad to say with all we have learned in the past four decades, only Dennis Kucinich is about the only one who even has "a clue". But that's a start ... Sad to say, Garth Turner seems to me to be about the ONLY Canadian politician in Parliament today that I can even begin to support as I am highly aware of the other politicians weird alliances, and that includes the Green Party.

A MASSIVE earthquake registering 7.6 on the Richter scale in the South Pacific was felt more than 1,000km away in New Zealand.

Seismologists at GNS Science in Wellington said the quake was officially designated “major,” being one of only an average of 18 measuring between 7 and 7.9 recorded every year around the world.

Epicentre of the quake last night New Zealand time was in the geologically unstable Kermadec Ridge, a series of volcanic islands halfway between New Zealand and Tonga.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii said there were no indications of a tsunami, probably because the quake was centred at a depth of 188 kilometres below the surface.

GNS Science said it was felt in parts of the North Island between Gisborne and the capital Wellington, 550 kilometres to the south.

There were no reports of damage in New Zealand.

Earthquake Tremors Felt in Tonga

10/12/2007 10:52:14 a.m.
An earthquake that occurred at a depth of 149.2km south of the Fiji Islands was felt in the Kingdom last night at around 8.28pm Tonga time.
The earthquake occurred closest to the Kermadec Islands, a remote uninhabited group of islands belonging to New Zealand, which lays approximately 900km south-south-west of Tonga.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) website this morning, the earthquake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale which makes it one of the larger earthquakes this year.
However, the USGS states that the magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available and that the earthquake is located in a remote area and no damage or casualties were expected.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre website this morning shows no tsunami warnings associated with the quake.
The earthquake comes after Tonga braced itself for tropical cyclone Daman which hit the remote Fijian island of Cikobia on Friday.
According to the Fiji Meteorological Service in Nadi, the cyclone which turned and headed for Tonga late Saturday, weakened significantly yesterday and will now miss Tonga.
Senior Forecaster Matt Boterhoven says that the cyclone is expected to take a south to south-west movement this morning, which will take it slowly further from Fiji and nearby southwest Pacific countries.

7.6 quake hits South Pacific

Quake felt across wide area of New Zealand's North Island

A powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck Sunday deep in the South Pacific, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The Japan Meteorological Agency measured the quake at 7.9.

Both agencies said no tsunami warning was issued.

"This earthquake is too deep inside the earth to generate a significant tsunami," the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

The USGS noted that the temblor occurred in a remote area and that no damage or casualties were expected. The quake was felt across a wide area of New Zealand's North Island.

The quake struck at 7:28 p.m. Sunday local time (2:28 a.m. Sunday EST). It was centered about 215 miles north of Raoul Island, the largest island in the Kermadec Islands. The location was also 370 miles from Tonga and 870 miles northeast of Auckland, New Zealand. It occurred at a depth of 116 miles, the USGS said.

The location of the quake was in a highly active seismic area where large temblors occur on a regular basis. Other than a few conservation officials on Raoul Island, the Kermadec Islands are uninhabited.

A 7.4 quake in May 2006 in the same region was also widely felt throughout New Zealand.

Why the Conspiracy is Unknown

The sheer magnitude and complex web of deceit surrounding the individuals and organizations involved in this conspiracy is mind boggling, even for the most astute among us. Most people react with disbelief and skepticism towards the topic, unaware that they have been conditioned (brainwashed) to react with skepticism by institutional and media influences. Author and de-programmer Fritz Springmeier (The Top 13 Illuminati Bloodlines) says that most people have built in "slides" that short circuit the mind's critical examination process when it comes to certain sensitive topics. "Slides", Springmeier reports, is a CIA term for a conditioned type of response which dead ends a person's thinking and terminates debate or examination of the topic at hand. For example, the mention of the word "conspiracy" often solicits a slide response with many people.

What most people believe to be "Public Opinion" is in reality carefully crafted and scripted propaganda designed to elicit a desired behavioral response from the public. Public opinion polls are really taken with the intent of gauging the public's acceptance of the New World Order's planned programs. A strong showing in the polls tells them that the programming is "taking", while a poor showing tells the NWO manipulators that they have to recast or "tweak" the programming until the desired response is achieved.

This week's earthchanges bulletin

BULLETIN ITEM: Earth Changes Bulletin Weekly Update As Of May 26 2008

NO FORMAL UPDATE ON THE WEB THIS WEEK, this advisory is the full update for the past seven days.

CRITICAL ALERTS [Earth Week Summary]

Forgive the repetition in this part, it is cut and pasted together from previous material

[5-26-08 0300 UTC - MSM, Arizona] - for universal release

DANGER FROM EARTHQUAKES IS AT LEVELS OF PROBABILITY SUBSTANTIALLY GREATER THAN NORMAL. NOW IS THE TIME TO BE PREPARED AND WATCH ALERTLY. IF YOU ARE IN AN EARTHQUAKE PRONE ZONE AND THINGS SUDDENLY ARE "WEIRD" WITH YOUR ENERGY, THE BEHAVIOR OF OTHERS AND CRITTERS AROUND YOU, OR WITH WATER LEVELS AND WELLS, OR THE "SETTLING" OF BUILDINGS OR ROADS OR ETC, ASSUME A STRONG EARTHQUAKE IS ABOUT TO OCCUR DURING THE FOLLOWING 96 HOURS OR LESS.

HEADS UP ALERT FOR EASTERN ASIA, THE PACIFIC RIM OF FIRE SUBDUCTION ZONES, AND THE MAJOR CONTINENTAL COMPRESSION FAULT ZONES IN THE INTERIOR OF NORTH AMERICA - MAINTAIN VIGOROUS WATCH THROUGH TO THE END OF JUNE.

SPECIAL HIGH ALERT THIS DAY/WEEK THROUGH TO THE END OF THE NEW MOON SYZYGY JUNE 1-6:

Earth movements in these zones are in a major surge induced by accelerated shape-shift rifting in the Atlantic portion of the Great Rift

SICHUAN
CENTRAL AMERICA - CALIFORNIA
JAPAN
ALASKA - KODIAK to ANCHORAGE & NORTH
ANDES MOUNTAINS

WATCH OUT ESPECIALLY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA

Gaian signals (local psychic/behavorial changes in the web of living cells) indicate STRESS IS UP in the ground to extraordinary levels in the Bakersfield/ Tehachapi portion of Central California (google "frogs" in California).

5-24-08 ECB] MW Mandeville - for release to all media

HEADS UP NEXT 30 DAYS ALL COMPRESSION ZONES. Earth is accelerating into another major shape-shifting period during late May and June with Major and Great Quakes more possible than normal in any of the compression/ subduction zones. A major surge is most likely due this next New Moon period in Lunar Perigee (closest approach of the Moon to the Earth) at or near Extreme Northern Node Lunar Declination during the week of June 1-6. These are the same lunar characteristics which brought the Class 8 Great Quake to Sichuan, but the EMS (Earth-Moon- Sun) gravity vectors will become even more sharply focused, . More probable than not, five or more Major or Great Quakes WILL fall somewhere during this time period. More probable than not, Western Hemisphere coastal zones will experience a surge of Class 4 + quakes, with much greater probability of Class 5+ quakes. Major continental compression faults, such as in the New Madrid, Wabash, and St. Lawrence Seaway zones, will experience greater stress and motion. Recommended: attend assiduously to all LOCAL biological and psychic portents in Gaia during this period of time, seek verification of portents, upon verification take precautions to improve personal safety.

The EC Bulletin was mainly designed originally as a trip wire for impending events in the tectonic activity of the Earth. YOUR TRIP WIRE IS RINGING OFF THE HOOK. By this alert you are being made aware that tectonic motion is way up and effects in the Earth in the form of major quakes and volcanic eruptions is an almost certain outcome. Specific locations and exact timing cannot be predicted from this planetary perspective, only very general zones can be defined within an approximate time period. But specific locations CAN be predicted if you tune to LOCAL signs from Gaia (the web of life to which even your cells are responsive).

On the subject of earthquakes, some academics are arguing that Great Quakes (such as the Sichuan Mag 8 quake) ring (oscillate) the Earth's crust and this ringing induces an increase in smaller quakes, even on the other side of the planet. How they can conceive that energy works like this is beyond me but nonetheless here is a summary of what they have to say.
What they need is the absolutely critical concept of the spinning mass vortex. The energy which produces ALL tectonic motion is in the spinning mass of the Earth and the gravity vectors of the EMS (Earth-Moon- Sun System). Change the shape in one place with a little shape adjustment, the force vectors in the spnning mass change and these induce a change of stress in other zones, which respond by releasing the stress with another reactive shape shift, usually in synchronity with the changing slopes of gravity created by the orbital cycles. Things above and things below combine in certain ways and then crraaaaaaaaaack. This is the mechanism but remarkably, most geophysicists are oblivious of the enormous energy which is the spinning Earth on which they stand. The key to this is the rifting in the Earth. It is accelerating in a surge right now and thus quakes throughout the world increase in both frequency and magnitude to "reflect" the increased rifting. Why the increased rifting? Many theories possible but mainly it is ultra-simple. The distribution of mass of the planet has become so unbalanced that the spin energy in the Earth is forcing the crust of the Earth to change its orientation in the Solar Sytem, thus the spin axis poles are drifting towards the equator at a slightly faster rate, the equator is tilting at a slightly faster rate, and all of this forces the entire shape of the Earth to shift at a slightly faster rate to properly align the "bulge" of the Earth (which is entirely a product of the spin) with the true but constantly changing Equator. Hence the increased Changes In The Earth, including Global Warming. I can pretty well show all this now with many numbers and graphs and correlations, and this will become available this year.

[May 19, 2008 ECB; MWM] "Current Week's Summary"

COSMIC FACTORS:

After a four day surge in the Sunspot Count on a Flux around 70 for the Mars | Saturn alignment, Solar Activity dropped to zip for the past few days and currently the Flux is about 69. None can be seen on the farside. After a small surge, the Planetary A Magnetic Index (upper atmosphere field strength) is stable again below 5. Alaska's Fluxgate Monitor Graph shows almost nothing now. For the next 48 hours, NASA predicts a 1% or less probability of major explosive or flare events on the Sun with only a 1% to 10% probability of major magnetic disturbances in the Earth's atmosphere in the higher latitudes. A small coronal hole in the Sun's atmosphere may send a solar wind to change this somewhat on about May 27/28 but don't count on much. As a sailor used to say when the wind was not blowing, "we are becalmed". It is likely to stay this may until about the first of June when a major new surge of activity will begin for the Mercury | Earth alignment on June 6 or so.

Last week's update (May 19, 2008) on the web provides lots of information about the implications of this alignment and others in June.
http://www.earthcha nges-bulletin. com/earthchanges /bulletin/ 2008/a5_May/ ecb_wupdate_ 5-19-08.htm

Currently weather in North America will continue in the current mode and track for at least a few days. Conditions are moderating out into normal ranges and this will continue until the first week in June. Then chaos will set in and rule the greater portion of June while the Sun produces at least two major Sunspot surges, probably the greatest of the past six months. The middle of June should easily exceed March in overall storminess and the weather may not "normalize" until July.

ATMOSPHERICS: La Nina has dissolved but the North Atlantic Oscillation is re-emerging with warmer than usual water around Ireland and the North Seat. So also is the North Pacific Gyre Hot Spot rapidly re-emerging and it appears to be moving East to suggle up alongside the Gulf of Alaska and California. No sign of El Nino Conditions are looking better and better for a surge in East Pacific hurricanes (warmer than normal water off Central America) even though Atlantic hurricanes are likely to have a "dull" season (Equatorial Atlantic is normal, which is not supportive of extreme hurricanes). The North Atlantic Oscillation, if it continues to grow warm more rapidly than the equatorial Atlantic, is likely to suck hurricanes to the North Atlantic before they can fully form and enter into the Carib Basin.

Last week I predicted: "For the PSW, it may seem that the Monsoon has come a few weeks early." Amazingly we got a major storm front which dropped an inch of rain in many areas. But it was very cold. No exactly monsoon, but rain in late May is as unheard of as temperatures of 60 degrees which greeted Ron Paul in Phoenix last Thursday.

GEOPHYSICAL FACTORS: No new news on the Wobble this week as it continues to expand. No major change from prior weeks. For lunar cycles which begin to have influence on June 1, go to

To review current quake activity, go to

http://www.iris. edu/seismon/

Volcanic activity may be a little muted this past few days. I have not reviewed the lists with care this week, looking only at the tripwires, which have little to say at the moment. Of note, Etna erupted vigorously until about the 19th of May and tapered off with just minor emissions of lava an ash reported on May 22, which is th date of the last report. Watch for signs of sudden flare-up during the coming syzygy, this could be a signal about major quake activity soon to follow, esp. on Eurasia.

OVER-RIDING CONDITION ON WAR AND PEACE EVOLVES: Both overt and covert manipulation of U.S. Warcast Media has become obviously pronounced. There is little new this past week except more revelations from whistle-blowers and insiders who continue to appear to rat out some aspect of the 911 Profiteering Scams.

Canada earthquake update May 3 2008 plus more

I watch all the "developments" in horror. I don't see a single sign the government or the NGOs are in the least bit prepared to deal with the horror to come.

I wonder, too, how many condos are STILL being built in these high risks areas, as that's just the last laugh, so to speak, of human stupidity!!

Always remember my you are on your own
warnings.

When disaster strikes, the government will rescues the rich and that is ALL.

Best to have a PLAN.

In this case, it is wise to remember the biggest killer in KATRINA was a lack of clean water.

A true humanitarian (and this means YOU) would be contacting the Abbotsford food banks, working with good clean organizations (not neoc
on churces!) to ensure that people have ready access to buses, water
and food. EXTREME care must be taken to ensure
that every man, woman and child is taken into account.

Read up on the Katrina disaster and find out NOW what exactly went wrong and take steps to prevent that level of human calamity.

The want depopulation, but helping man become empowered and destroying RAMPANT sexism and racism will do much more to accomplish the thinning of the population.

Canada knows full well this coming, yet you don't see a single national warning being issued yet.

Why they built TRILLIONS on
a highway system knowing that this is coming down is a national scandal. (Ah, but it kept the useless eaters going to work to pay the elite to RULE over them when the time comes.) This explains, too, how Canada intends to cull the "colored population" in Vancouver before the Olympics .. I think our neocon government thinks we will all be too broke to attend the festivities there!! Or they can cull everyone who might protest at the airports coming in.

Below are some odds and ends I've picked up this week as the earthchanges occur!!

THE jewel in Louisiana's coast is almost glittering again. With 10 kilometres of beach, great fishing and a small-town atmosphere, Grand Isle is the ideal refuge for those seeking a second home or a break from the intensity of city life. It is hard to believe that two years ago this week, hurricane Katrina swept across the island. The rebuilding may not quite be done, but tourists are back. "We are open and ready for your visit," proclaims the island's website.

For those who study coastal development, however, Grand Isle symbolises not hope, but government folly. The island is regularly hit by severe storms, yet federal building subsidies continue to pour in. By one estimate, over $1 million of public money has been spent for each of Grand Isle's 600 or so permanent residents over the four decades up to the 1990s. After Katrina, more government money poured in. "It's ...

What would you do if a natural disaster hit?

Emergency Preparedness Week starts Saturday

Tricia Leslie, The Times

Published: Friday, May 02, 2008

Many of us think natural disasters like earthquakes, volcano eruptions and floods won't affect us - only other people, the ones you see on the news.

EVENTS KICK OFF THIS SATURDAY

But what if? A flood, earthquake or a Mount Baker eruption could easily affect valley residents, so the City of Abbotsford is encouraging locals to get involved during Emergency Preparedness Week, which kicks off Saturday at Mill Lake Park.

"We are in an area where the potential for hazards can affect us every day," said the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service's Ron Hull, who is deputy chief in emergency planning for the city.

"In the event of a large-scale incident, the more prepared you are, the better."

Ideally, people should be prepared to be self-sufficient for 72 hours in such an event, Hull said, but, "realistically, we'd like to see people self-sustainable for a week."

DRINKABLE WATER, FOOD IMPORTANT

Having drinkable water and food are important, Hull said, but so is knowing about the risks, and having a plan in place if your home is destroyed.

Emergency Preparedness Week starts with a pancake breakfast on Saturday, and will feature displays, demonstrations, workshops and a first aid Olympics. Events run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Other presentations will run at the Seniors' Resource Centre [2478 McCallum Rd., Abbotsford] all week, such as It Won't Happen Here, a personal preparedness event, which starts at 7 p.m. Monday.

For more information, e-mail EPO@abbotsford.ca or call 604-853-3566.

Emergency measures

By Natasha Jones - Langley Times - May 02, 200

The recent discovery of a shallow fault line near Abbotsford, capable of producing a massive earthquake, underscores the importance of being prepared for an emergency.

New hazard maps released last week by the U.S. Geological Survey show that the fault, which is 11 km long and 17 km wide, spreads from the Bellingham area north towards Abbotsford.

According to seismologist Craig Weaver, the fault has the capacity to produce an earthquake measuring 6.8, strong enough to cause damage to buildings throughout Metro Vancouver.

But earthquakes are not the only worry for Langley residents and, as Emergency Preparedness Week approaches, Langley’s Provincial Emergency Program co-ordinator Ginger Sherlock is urging everyone to use the opportunity to be prepared.

Train derailments which involve the release of toxic materials would trigger an evacuation of homes and businesses. A pandemic would cause massive disruptions in hospitals, the workplace, schools and public transportation systems, as would flooding, which posed a real threat last year.

And while the prevailing winds all but rule out a significant impact from Mount Baker blowing its top, winds from a volcanic eruption in Hawaii could blow ash over B.C.

At the moment, there are no suggestions that flooding on the scale anticipated a year ago will occur this spring, but all it would take is a spell of warm weather to melt snow all at once for major flooding to follow, Sherlock said.

“Mother Nature is unpredictable,” she said.

If for no other reason, be prepared. “It takes time to think personally how you are going to be prepared,” she said.

“Everyone needs to think, ‘How will a certain event impact me?’”

For example, people in wheelchairs need to know that there is someone who will help them. A personal support network is crucial for everyone, and someone in this network should have a key to your home, know how to operate medical equipment and where emergency supplies are kept.

Anyone on medication should keep a list, including dosage, and note all allergies.

Sherlock urges everyone to have “out of area contact cards.” Given to family and friends, these record pertinent details which can be relayed to contacts living outside the Lower Mainland.

Sherlock said that if land line phones are knocked out in an emergency, out-of-area lines may still be intact.

Emergencies can strike at any time, often with little warning, and 95 percent of those ‘rescued’ are done so by regular people, family and friends, Sherlock said.

“Everyone has a role to play in learning how to be better prepared,” Sherlock said, adding: “We need to reach out and help one another, be it business to business or neighbour to neighbour. When we know the risks, plan for or minimize those risks, we are not only prepared, but resilient as a community.”

“Don’t be left hanging,” Sherlock warns.

The City and Township of Langley will join the national campaign for Emergency Preparedness Week, May 4 to 10.

A number of activities have been planned to heighten awareness and help educate all Canadians.

Of the 57 identified hazards in B.C., earthquakes are among the most severe. Two thousand are detected every year, and while a small number are large enough to cause damage, the threat of a major one is very real.

Earthquakes cannot be stopped, but there is much we can do to protect ourselves, our families, and our property, Sherlock said. As with all hazards, we all must prepare to be self-sufficient in the event of a disaster.

‘Demystifying earthquakes — what this means to Langley’ is a first step. Led by Maiclaire Bolton, a PEP seismologist, the event will be held at the Murrayville fire hall, 22170 50 Ave., on Tuesday, May 6.

There will be two sessions, the first from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p .m., and the second from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

As space is limited, those who plan to attend should contact Christine Swanson at 604-514-2820 or cswanson@langleycity.ca to register.

Historically, B.C. has experienced one of the world’s largest earthquakes. British Columbia has been impacted by seven earthquakes with a magnitude of seven or greater in the past 100 years.

These “great” earthquakes like this are rare, occurring every few centuries, but damaging earthquakes can still occur relatively often, approximately once every few decades.

These more frequent earthquakes are of great concern as they can occur inland and closer to the urban centres of Vancouver and Victoria.

Students to Test 'Tsunami Shelters'

Their tsunami shelters are only made out of small wooden blocks and held together by toothpaste used for glue, but they also incorporate months of study with computer-aided design, learning about engineering principles, applying skills to real world problems and the simple ingenuity of hundreds of middle school students from Oregon coastal and rural areas. And now, it’s crunch time. Or maybe collapse time. This Thursday and Friday, about 350 students will travel to the Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory at Oregon State University to see how their one-fiftieth scale models stand up to real wave tests.

This “Tsunami Shelter Challenge” is part of a two-year effort to increase student science and technology skills, using issues that seem relevant – in this case, building a vertical-escape tsunami shelter that could help save lives if such an event hit the Pacific Northwest.

“These students have worked the past year learning about tsunami science, the engineering of structures, and how computational modeling is used to design and test structures,” said Rozeanne Steckler, creator of the project and director of the Northwest Alliance for Computational Science and Engineering at OSU.

“They then used a custom-built tsunami shelter simulator to design and test their structures on a computer,” she added. “Now in the wave basin we’re going to simulate waves that would mimic the 2004 East Asian tsunami. And the big question is: Which structures will be left standing?”

Working in small teams, the students learned about how tsunamis and storm surges happen, the forces they generate, and the types of structural design it would take to withstand them. Testing of their creations will take place in OSU’s Tsunami Wave Basin, the largest facility of its type in the world.
A vertical-escape shelter tries to save lives by helping people get above, rather than away from an incoming wave, in the very short time frame of a few minutes that may be available. The structure needs to be high enough to be above the wave, and strong enough not to collapse from its forces. Most of the Pacific Northwest is now believed to be vulnerable to potentially devastating tsunamis, due mostly to potential future massive earthquakes on the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

The initiative has been funded in part by a $75,000 grant from Symantec Corporation, as part of a corporate goal to encourage more young students to pursue careers in science and technology. It included support for Oregon teachers to be trained with the program, and encourage gender equity in its implementation.

Cascadia Subduction Zone

Two Contrasting Models of Lithospheric Structure

Generalized tectonic map of the Cascadia region

The subduction of the Juan de Fuca plate beneath North America changes markedly along the length of the subduction zone, notably in the angle of subduction, distribution of earthquakes, volcanism, geologic and seismic structure of the upper plate, and regional horizontal stress. To investigate these characteristics, we conducted detailed density modeling experiments of the crust and mantle along two transects across the Cascadia subduction zone. One crosses Vancouver Island and the Canadian margin, and the other crosses the margin of central Oregon. Both density models were constructed independently to a depth of approximately 50 km. We gathered all possible geologic, geophysical, and borehole data to constrain the density calculations. The final densities for the Oregon and Vancouver lithosphere models were obtained from gravity inversions.

Our results confirm that the downgoing slab of the Cascadia subduction zone dips significantly steeper beneath Oregon than beneath Vancouver Island, lending support to the idea that the Juan de Fuca plate is segmented from north to south. In addition, our gravity models indicate that the mantle wedge beneath western Oregon (i.e., below the western Cascades) is lighter than the mantle beneath the Canadian continental crust. This low density agrees with the low mantle velocities observed in the mantle and the present day extensional regime of the Pacific Northwest.

A gravity low at the deformation front of the Oregon margin, absent along the Vancouver margin, can be explained by the different bathymetry of the two regions and by the depth to the top of the subducting Juan de Fuca plate. If the accretionary prisms along these profiles were modeled with equal densities, a density inhomogeneity in the lower part of the models would be necessary. Thus that the density of the accretionary prism for the Vancouver profile must be approximately 0.1-0.2 g/cm3 greater than that for Oregon. A density difference within the accretionary prisms also agrees with other data. We note that the volume of accreted sediments is approximately twice as large along the Vancouver profile than along the Oregon profile, and the prism reaches a greater depth (approximately 20 km as compared with 12 km for the Oregon profile). This implies that the sediments within the accretionary prism at Vancouver Island are at a higher metamorphic grade, and therefore have higher densities.

We find that a substantial part of the coastal gravity maxima for both lines is caused by increasing density with depth in the subducting plate. In the proposed model, the maximum possible density of the slab was used to satisfy constraints for the average density of the near coastal crust for both profiles. If a density increase with depth is not introduced into the model, very high densities would be required for the near surface coastal and continental crustal blocks.

My friend Robert Somerville calls my attention to an article in the NewScientistEnvironment that says the San Andreas fault is a victim. It's the Cascadia Subduction Zone's fault.

Chris Goldfinger and colleagues at Oregon State University, Corvallis, analysed sediment records from deep sea canyons that stretched back over the last three thousand years, looking for the disturbed strata that are the hallmarks of big earthquakes.
They found evidence that "...the massive Cascadia quakes – eight of which Goldfinger estimates exceeded magnitude 9.0 on the Richter scale – trigger events that top out around magnitude 7.9 along the San Andreas by stress transfer."

Their evidence also suggests that the Cascadia is 90 years overdue for a "big one".

Bush administration intervenes to shield Wall Street from housing meltdown

My comment: This is a GREAT article. Very precise and lays it all out.

However, my instincts tell me that for CONgress to drop legislation securing mortgages for the vulnerable is way out of line. The Bushistas/ neocons/ Clintonistas are so good at manipulating markets I don't trust them on anything. Wallpapering over cracks is the name of one of their games.

This new ploy is just an attempt to keep the stock and currency markets from falling over the next couple of months, as most spending is during the Christmas season and DEBT is created. They want that consumer debt piling up to prop up the banks' liquidity problems. Only increased consumer debt can bail out the current market panic.

T
he banks' "liquidity problem" is way out of control; it can be exasperated by lack of debt being piled on through consumer purchases over the next two months - but the real underlying problem is going to come home to roost ANYWAY. There really is no way to avoid the long-term tanking out of the global financial system - the values created by the housing bubble's prop up of the global financial system are just too starkly out of line.

We can get into a discussion here of discussion of the creation of private property and the state ala Fredrick Engels, but I'll bypass that and spare you all. But the main point is, with this system of creating value, any and all NATURAL disasters wreck havoc on state and market created values of land. So, as these earthchanges proceed (and they will!) things are going to stay volatile, the banks be damned. They really are just a convenient place to stash money for those that have it. That is all. Helping them stay afloat and provide so-called liquidity is just pure rubbish to my mind, esepcially at a time when funding wars of aggresion on behalf of transnationals.

We are going to see a DEPRESSION, we are going to see folks have to come together in order to survive .. and if we aren't CAREFUL in the extreme, the woman and children are going to suffer even more than before as the values currently held in society are so messed up.

But this is a good "Read" of the current state of play, the hijinks of the Plunge Protection Team and the hysteria afloat. But to give Bush credit? Give me a break!! That's why I think people like Paul Krugman are the most awful deceivers of all.

What is actually happening is an attempt to bail out investors in banks so that the crisis is not so apparent; if they sell in mass, the market tanks ala 1987 and 1929. This has little to do with "being nice to homeowner X". Here's a number: So far BuZh and Ben Helicopter Bernake and Hank have bailed out only 80,000 mortgage holders with federal guarantees on their mortgages and ONLY those who never defaulted on their payments. this is as we say "diddly squat". So how many more are ACTUALLY going to get bailed out this round? Let's WATCH.

At least the economic discussions are going mainstream and that's the best I can say at this point. People are waking up.

Plan to freeze some subprime mortgage rates

Bush administration intervenes to shield Wall Street from housing meltdown

By Barry Grey

The Bush administration is seeking to obtain the agreement of major US banks, mortgage lenders and servicers, and financial institutions holding subprime mortgage-backed securities to freeze the interest rates on some subprime loans that are scheduled to reset at higher rates in the coming months.

As first reported in the November 30 Wall Street Journal, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, officials of the Federal Reserve Board and other US financial regulators met last Thursday with top Wall Street and home mortgage executives as well as housing counselors to discuss the plan. The newspaper said Paulson might speak publicly about the scheme at a housing conference today.

Calling itself the “Hope Now Alliance,” the government-Wall Street consortium is casting its deliberations as an altruistic effort to rescue homeowners overwhelmed by mortgage debt from foreclosure when their adjustable-rate loans reset upwards by as much as 30 percent. However, press reports make clear that, should the plan come to fruition, only a minority of the 2 million families whose subprime mortgages will reset over the next 18 months would get temporary relief in the form of a rate freeze or some other mortgage restructuring arrangement.

The motivation behind the discussions is the growing alarm on Wall Street and in Washington over the potentially catastrophic financial implications of the accelerating housing slump and related crisis on credit markets. The proposals under discussion are calibrated to avert—at the least possible cost to the banks and big investors—a collapse of major US banks and other financial institutions that could be triggered by spiraling home foreclosures and the implosion of hundreds of billions of dollars in speculative investments tied to the subprime housing boom of previous years.

In essence, the scheme is aimed at containing the home foreclosure epidemic sufficiently to shield the major financial institutions from the full consequences of years of rampant speculation, accompanied by accounting manipulations that concealed the immense levels of risk behind the soaring profits and gargantuan salaries reaped by Wall Street executives.

Were the plan implemented, it would allow holders of mortgage-backed securities to put off marking down their assets.

Most of those who stand to lose their homes —after having been lured into high-interest rate mortgages by predatory lenders, including some of the biggest US banks, when their “teaser” rates expire and their monthly payments shoot up by hundreds of dollars— will not benefit from the plans being thrashed out between the administration and Wall Street.

Among those involved in the negotiations are Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual and Countrywide Financial (the country’s largest home mortgage lender). Also at Thursday’s Washington meeting were representatives of the American Securitization Forum, whose members issue, buy and rate securities backed by bundles of mortgages.

According to the Wall Street Journal, key aspects of the plan have yet to be agreed upon, and some press reports suggest that the entire project could founder, primarily because some big holders of securities backed by subprime loans object to foregoing the increased profits they anticipate once the higher mortgage rates take effect. However, according to the Journal, the American Securitization Forum has come around to the position that the potential losses from foreclosed homes would be far greater than the losses from an interest rate freeze on some subprime loans.

Citigroup, the largest US bank, Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual and Countrywide Financial all face potentially disastrous losses from the accelerating housing and foreclosure crisis. Citigroup has already announced $13 billion in write-offs of securities linked to subprime mortgages, and may be forced to absorb another $65 billion in losses from off-balance-sheet speculative investments that are crashing.

Just last week Moody’s Investors Service announced it had downgraded or put on review $119 billion in debt issued by so-called “structured investment vehicles” (SIVs). This includes $64.9 billion in debt issued by six SIV’s set up by Citigroup.

According to some estimates, between $400 and $500 billion in assets of international banks, investment houses, insurance companies and hedge funds will be wiped out by the collapse of the US housing market and resulting credit crunch.

Among the issues still under discussion between the administration and financial houses, according to press reports, are the length of any temporary freeze on subprime interest rates and the criteria for deciding which subprime borrowers would be eligible.

The Journal wrote on Friday: “Treasury officials say financial institutions are likely to set criteria that divide up subprime borrowers into three groups: those who can continues to make their payments even if rates rise, those who can’t afford their mortgages even if rates stay steady, and those who could keep their homes if the maturity date of their mortgages were extended or the interest rates remained at the teaser rates. Only the third group would be eligible for help.”

The newspaper added that creditors would take into account whether the borrowers had equity in their homes, despite falling house prices, and whether their incomes were steady. Because of the precipitous decline in house prices, many subprime borrowers now owe more than the market value of their homes.

The criteria outlined above make it clear that the most distressed homeowners would be excluded from a temporary interest rate freeze and left to be thrown onto the street.

Harvey L. Pitt, a former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, who is now working for some hedge funds with a stake in the negotiations on a possible subprime rate freeze, said that even a generous freeze would help only a minority of subprime borrowers. He said a freeze would do nothing to help people who took out a “no documentation” loan, overstated their incomes and borrowed more than they could repay. Nor would a freeze help those whose mortgage is higher than the market value of their homes.

The increasingly desperate state of the US financial system and the precarious position of some of the biggest banks, has led the administration to shift its previous position of a hands-off approach, aside from urging mortgage lenders to provide relief to mortgage borrowers on a one-by-one basis.

It is estimated that there are $1 trillion in US subprime loans. Interest rates are scheduled to reset next year on $362 billion worth of adjustable-rate subprime mortgages, and another $85 billion in these mortgages is resetting in the course of the current quarter. These include loans that are bundled into so-called “collateralized debt obligations” that are held in the portfolios of banks, hedge funds, mutual funds and insurance companies.

In recent months, the foreclosure rate on subprime loans has soared to 10 percent, and top Treasury officials fear that unless some relief is provided, the foreclosure rate could spiral even higher.

The announcement of the subprime negotiations was the second major step taken last week by government and finance officials to reassure the stock market and financial institutions in response to a raft of reports showing a deepening credit crunch, rapidly falling home sales and prices, soaring foreclosure rates, declining durable goods orders, rising unemployment claims and sagging personal incomes and consumer spending—all pointing to a sharp contraction in economic growth in the current quarter and the likelihood of a full-scale recession in 2008.

The vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, Donald L. Kohn, and the chairman, Ben Bernanke, both delivered speeches broadly hinting at a further interest rate cut when Fed policy makers meet again on December 11. Financial interests are clamoring for a cut of at least 0.25 percent—the third since last August—to further open the credit spigot and forestall catastrophic losses on Wall Street.

The Fed officials’ remarks helped spark a two-day rally of 546 points Tuesday and Wednesday in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and similar sharp gains in the other major stock indexes, and further, more modest gains, on Thursday and Friday. Reports of the subprime negotiations led to large gains for the stocks of financial companies involved in the talks in Friday trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares in Citigroup rose 3.1 percent, Countrywide Financial shot up 16 percent, and Wells Fargo rose 6 percent.

Another factor driving the administration’s subprime initiative is a desire to preempt legislation being introduced by Democrats in the House of Representatives and the Senate to halt predatory lending and restrict some practices that are widespread among subprime lenders. Some Democrats are also seeking to pass a bill that would allow bankruptcy judges to change the terms of mortgages to help people retain their homes.

The initial response of prominent Democrats to news of the government-led negotiations indicates that they are more than willing to seize on the plan to drop any serious legislation to curb mortgage lending abuses. The liberal New York Times columnist Paul Krugman offered “kudos to the Bush administration” on his blog, and House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank said he was “encouraged by reports of progress” in efforts to help borrowers facing foreclosure.

Earthquakes lead to increased volcanic activity
Malaysia Sun

(ANI)
http://story. malaysiasun. com/index. php/ct/9/ cid/89d96798a395 64bd/id/240773/ cs/1/
(okay. I did try to fix the link, I really did!!)

Washington, Apr 11 : Scientists using NASA satellite data have found strong evidence that a major earthquake can lead to a nearly immediate increase in regional volcanic activity.

The intensity of two ongoing volcanic eruptions on Indonesia's Java Island increased sharply three days following a powerful, 6.4-magnitude earthquake on the island in May 2006. The increased volcanic activity further persisted for about nine days.

"During this period, we found clear evidence that the earthquake caused both volcanoes to release greater amounts of heat, and lava emission surged to two to three times higher than prior to the tremor," said lead author of the study, Andrew Harris, from the University of Hawaii, Honolulu.

While scientists have long debated whether earthquakes can trigger new volcanic eruptions, this study linked an earthquake to enhanced volcanic activity at two ongoing eruptions that were being closely monitored by satellite-based sensors on a daily basis.

At the time of the earthquake, each volcano was being checked for changes in heat output by satellite sensors as part of a routine global "hot spot" monitoring effort that uses near real-time satellite data from NASA's Terra and Aqua satellites.

Maps of worldwide hot spot activity are created with data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on these satellites, pinpointing locations where surface temperatures are much hotter than their surroundings.

Researchers combined these data with other details about the Indonesian volcanoes gathered by the satellites to analyze temperature and lava output rates at both volcanoes over a 35-day period spanning the earthquake.

They found that the two volcanoes, Merapi and Semeru, which are about 260 kilometres apart and roughly 50 kilometres north and 280 kilometres east of the earthquake epicentre, showed an increase in eruption rate due to underground stresses from the earthquake's seismic waves.

The seismic waves pumped magma -- molten rock beneath the surface -- into the conduit to the surface, increasing eruption rates.

"The responses at Merapi and Semeru lagged about three days behind the triggering earthquake, which may reflect the time it took the change felt by magma residing at deeper levels to be transmitted to the surface," said Harris.

The researchers said that regional earthquake events had sufficient power to modify the intensity of activity at ongoing eruptions, although they may not always be able to trigger new volcanic eruptions.

According to their findings, the Java earthquake had a significant influence on the volcanoes for a relatively short period of several days.

"Eruptions must be closely and continuously monitored in the days immediately before, during and after an earthquake if we are to link any earthquake with enhanced volcanic activity," added Harris.

The research was recently published in the American Geophysical Union's Geophysical Research Letters.

BULLETIN ITEM: Sunspots Decline To 57 But Flux Up 2 Reaching 85

Where the spinning wheel stops, nobody knows for certain, good odds that Spots will not decline much further for another day or so at least, possibily even increase again.

Quake frequency still low, but a 5.8 in Crete and a 5.9 on the Carib Plate northwest of Honduras probably reflects the extreme South Declination of the Moon. More of these large quakes to follow, more probable than not. These are large enough to produce substantial damage in cultures where masonry construction (brick, mud, rock, crete) is the dominant form of shelter.

EARTHCHANGES - Volcanic times in South America

Volcanic times in South America

Volcano1_2 It's volcano season in the Andes. Of course, volcanoes are more epochal than seasonal, and don't comport to any quadrants of the calendar.

But it has been a jumpy few months on the South American edge of the Pacific Ring of Fire, where folks are all too aware of volcanoes' destructive force. Spectacular eruptions and shattered nerves have been the norm in the vicinity of several fuming behemoths.

Volcano2_2_2 In Ecuador, hundreds have been evacuated from the proximity of the Tungurahua volcano, about 85 miles south of Quito, the capital. Authorities have declared a red alert, reports El Universo. And on the other end of the continent, El Mercurio says Chilean villagers were on the run from the Llaima volcano, which has spewed out a river of lava more than a mile long, illuminating the night sky.

Hello, Michael. I'm normally, critical, so in fairness, I thought I should
send a note of support for what I consider a major 'hit' for you...

Tremendous shaping event!

This latest series of quakes near Japan demonstrates the pattern that I
previously attempted to describe, as to what I would expect from a 'crust
shaping' event.... Instead of a main quake, followed by typical
aftershocks that diminish in magnitude, what happened off the coast of
Japan was a whole series of quakes with *growing* intensity, over the
course of nearly five hours, culminating in a large event that
(presumably) relieved the last of the stresses.

Of course, these are now being followed by 'standard' aftershocks, but
that cluster of quakes, including three 6+ quakes (of growing intensity!)
between 16:02 and 16:45 UTC is remarkable.

> MWM: P.S. Did we or did we not point to this possible reaction in the
> crust during this window of time from the accelerated plate motion
> which is underway?

(smile and nod) This series of quakes perfectly matches the expectations
you published, both in terms of timing, and in termd of the 'quality' of
the event. You know, looking at the usgs map, I continue to be amazed by
the remarkably *even* and broad distribution of quakes in the range of 4.6
to 5.3 around the whole globe...... Something very interesting is going
on......

Keep up the good work, Michael!

- Charles

MWM: And congrats on seeing your speculation on the "build up" of the event fully revealed. BINGO. This is an important obsevation. In principle software could see this and ring bells for us at least an hour before the BEEG one. In principle we could use the databases of the last ten years to learn how to set the criterion points. THIS IS WELL WORTH PURSUING. Speaking of worldwide distribution, I snared today's IRIS chart for the archives. Wot a classic, you can see the living Earth breathing in and out. It displays an amazingly full house (nearly) of the active zones and type of quakes. Take note, on the outer edge of the chart, of the world encircling distribution of yellow and one organge circle. I have never seen the pattern this full. The Atlantic is clearly rifting in all the major zones (mantle rising & crust expanding) while the Western Pacific (the mirror opposite) subduction zone has a full house of in its zones (crust sinking/shrinking) . What's driving it? The orbital relationships are not merely coincidental. Most of the other pirmary active active zones are also revealed, of both types, with at least one marker. Missing now is Central East Asia (that area was active last month and fell out of the time series) and East Africa and the Indian Ocean. The East Pacific Rise also seems under represented. Perhaps these three sparse zones are the next shoes to drop.

http://www.earthcha nges-bulletin. com/earthchanges /bulletin/ 2008/quakes/ worldquakes_ IRIS_5-8- 08_special. gif

BTW: I suspect the ocean surface temperatures to watch this coming 'cane season are in the Atlantic. Most likely most marine geologists will readily agree that increased magma flow and heat flow into the bottom of the Atlantic is going on as a consequence of this surge of quake activity, possibly far beyond "average" levels (at least I would assert). Generally major heat plumes will flare like solar flares, but unlike solar flares, these will persist for 30 to 90 days (or even longer - this is not well defined by science) before gradually falling off (takes a few years to fall fully back to average). What I am getting at is that the 'cane season this year may be more driven by heat in the ocean than from solar activity, which is not going to be much beyond MIN for most of this year. From the MIN I would predict a very weak 'cane season. But from this tectonic activity, I would venture a very strong Atlantic storm season. What will save the Carib basin, if save is the right word, is that low pressures in the North Atlantic are likely to lower (in latitude) the jet stream and act to pull more heavy equatorial air directly to the north. This may keep more of the large storms tracking up the Altantic rather into the Carib.

Now that the Articles of Impeachment (H Res 1258) have been read out clearly by Dennis Kucinich, a good time for a reminder that we must REMOVE Nancy Pelosi, and keep calling the states' Attorneys General throughout the day .. This is what must be done as we wait for more whistleblowers to confess and for more cosigners to come forward to co-signers of the resolution.

We know that PELOSI will attempt to block impeachment proceedings and this would make the United States a FAILED NATION that cannot police itself.

Pelosi must NOT be allowed to serve as President as the Constitution stipulates.

Above is the link to sign the petition for Pelosi's removal as Speaker of the House and can be signed by non-US citizens.

Those state Attorneys General who do NOT pursue WAR CRIMES prosecutions will ALSO be guilty of war crimes very soon. They MUST uphold Geneva or ELSE. And remember: what has happened must NEVER be allowed to happen ever again. That is the legacy of Nuremberg.

Many of them are reading the notes on prosecutions NOW and lawyers from the ACLU and the NLG have filled them in on details in the past few months.

The lawyers for We the People continue working hard on the prosecutions leading to WAR CRIMES convictions ..

My entire blog has all the relevant information available http://ladybroadoak.blogspot.com/2008/02/special-prosecutor-information-plz.html

and a free swicki on war crimes and Constitutional criminality is available, and the link includes the free .pdf on Bush's international war crimes, applicable to ALL the global war criminals in the GWOT.

Did Nancy Pelosi just think everyone sat on their backsides for the past eight years ???

She will find out there is NO statue of limitations on WAR CRIMES (as if she didn't know that - she has access to legal advisors.
She may be the most despicable female on the planet after Condi Rice, Harriet Meiers and/or Karen Hughes .. although someone mentioned Madeleine Albright recently. )

As you go about your business of the day,

REMEMBER

1 million Irakis are assumed to have died
4 million more are refugees - many undocumented
(children are being used as prostitutes !)
The war in Afghanistan continues
The kangaroo courts in Guantanamo Bay are illegal
In the vast archipelago of black sites the torture continues
Depleted uranium weapons are illegal
9/11 TRUTH has yet to be exposed
The US economy is in a nose dive and must be fixed
Palestinians have a right of return
The War on Drugs is a total failure
Earthchanges are upon us
US Elections are still rigged

The human suffering must be stopped
and it is NOT "business as usual"
after a war that has lasted longer than WWII !
just to name a few of "The Problems"
and We the People have the power, really.

Don't be so "pre-occupied" like Nancy you don't sign the petition;
it's not "business" as usual now that the DoD emails have been released
and Scott McClellan's book has come out.

. . .

Genocide is the Supreme international crime.

NO ONE IS BEYOND THE LAW

We the People should have our WAR CRIMES indictments finished by June 16th or so, that includes the information on how INFORMATION WARFARE was used against us..

(The videos of the Kucinich and the other presentations are available on youtube.)

Meanwhile, can you have your friends discuss this new solution as what has happened can never be allowed to happen to the American democracy again

State Legislatures Moving To Remove Pelosi As Speaker

"How's the effort to remove Pelosi as speaker?", you're wondering . .

1. Identified the legal precedent to have her removed:

http://www.gpo.gov/congress/hous...text/ hrm14.html

"Speaker may be removed at the will of the House, and a Speaker pro tempore appointed, 2 Grey, 186; 5 Grey, 134."

2. Identified the mechanism by which the state legislatures can review the charges against the Speaker; and pass a resolution calling for the House to remove her.
House Rule 603 Permits the States to Pass resolutions calling for changes in leadership:

Also, note this:

"A resolution for the removal of an officer is presented as a matter of privilege (I, 284-286; VI, 35), and a resolution declaring the office of Speaker vacant presents a question of constitutional privilege (VI, 35).

2. Draft indictments against the Speaker have been written: Charges, allegations against the speaker warranting her removal as Speaker:

- A. Allegedly aiding and abetting enemies of the Constitution: Assenting to agreements which are not the Supreme Law, but acting is if those alleged agreement were Supreme, in defiance of her oath of office.

- B. Alleged breach of her oath of office: Having mental reservations about whether the Constitution is or is not the Supreme Law, as evidenced by the decision to allegedly thwart, block, and not permit review of evidence related to impeachment; and

- C. Allegedly bringing discredit upon the house -- failing to enforce the Constitution; blocking investigations into illegal misconduct.

Please forward the above links to your friends, State Attorney Generals, and Legislatures. This will form the basis for the removal for the Speaker; and for your State Legislatures to debate a proclamation calling for the House to remove Nancy Pelosi as Speaker.
