We, the undersigned People, hereby ratify the following "Citizen's Arrest" Warrant to be served upon U. S. President George W. Bush (president@whitehouse.gov) -- as composed by, served by, and disseminated on March 12, 2006, by petition creator Larry W. Bryant. By so endorsing this people's action, we intend that our signatures cast us as co-arresters in this march to justice.

BACKGROUND: When I went to my local bookstore to buy a copy of the
March 2006 issue of Harper's magazine, in which editor Lewis H.
Lapham itemizes and decries George W. Bush's impeachable assaults upon U. S. self-governance, I instantly absorbed the historic value of this issue of America's oldest magazine. And I empathize with
Lapham's frustration over, and his new-found commitment to, the
notion that Bush no longer should elude the long arm of the law. In
particular, on page 33, Lapham reiterates that "[Bush's] directive
[facilitating warrantless wiretapping of Americans' telecommunications], a felony under the 1978 Foreign Intelligence
Surveillance Act (punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000
fine), also nullified the Fourth Amendment's guarantee of protection
against unreasonable search and seizure." On the strength of that
willful violation alone, I hereby issue the following text of my "Citizen's Arrest Warrant":

TEXT OF THE WARRANT:

TO: George W. Bush, President of the United States

FROM: Larry W. Bryant, U. S. Citizen

DATE OF ISSUANCE: March 12, 2006

-- WHEREAS, your (alleged) felonious conduct in office has violated
at least one provision of federal law and certain constitutional
protections afforded the U. S. citizenry (as regards your administration's warrantless wiretapping of U. S. citizens' telecommunications);

-- WHEREAS, Congress's abject failure thus far to hold you fully
accountable for that harmful conduct threatens the stability of our
nation's self-governance; and

-- WHEREAS, the only remedy at law lies in this citizen's warrant for
your immediate arrest, arraignment, and incarceration --

NOW, I do hereby demand that, within 48 hours of your receipt of this
served warrant, you present yourself to the U. S. Marshals Service
for all necessary processing in fulfillment of this warrant. Be further advised that your failure to so appear shall trigger a review of your security-clearance suitability in proceedings before the U. S. Court of Public Opinion.

STOP THE WAR CRIMES THROUGH IMPEACHMENT!! help requested

The Wexler effort to get impeachment BACK ON THE TABLE is so welcome.

But only US citizens can sign his petition.

We are talking about international war crimes as part of the impeachment evidence.

I am asking .. can ANYONE who is interested .. PLEASE Help me get a petition going asking for impeachment to end international war crimes ...? I have limited resources, but I can write up something, but I need help getting it circulated and welcome any ideas someone has as to how to get this out EVERYWHERE.

I think foreigners are MORE LIKELY to sign up to support impeachment and war crimes tribunals than Americans are and putting together a two-pronged attack has become a cry of the times now.

I'll put together something, but any help or assistance ANYONE knows about would be greatly appreciated.

Time to get the prisoners out of the vast archipelago of torture facilities, stop the torture, stop the kidnap known as rendition, stop the end of habeas corpus, stop end of the military commissions act, stop the nuclear proliferation going on

Tell the reporters to focus on the human race not the political race!!

Global warming is a controversial issue! (so is peak oil) and that is why it is monumentally necessary to see some LEADERSHIP on this issue take place.

Hundreds honour man hit by Taser at airport

Kamloops, B.C.-Hundreds of people packed a funeral home here yesterday to both grieve and express their outrage over the death of Robert Dziekanski, the Polish man who died last month at the Vancouver airport.

Many of those attending the memorial service in Kamloops, the town where Dziekanski was supposed to start his new life in Canada, only knew him through the lens of a video camera.

Millions of people around the world saw the video of his last moments - a panic-stricken man barricading himself into the international arrivals hall before police shot him with a Taser gun.

His mother, Zofia Cisowski, wiped away her tears to quietly narrate a slideshow of Dziekanski's photographs shown during the memorial celebration of the 40-year-old man's life."

That's my brother, that's my uncle, that's us,"

Cisowski whispered to pictures of her son, a smiling, swarthy man, arms wrapped around family in his native Poland.

Cisowski had worked for seven years to save up enough money to sponsor her son.

He was supposed to look after her and support her as she aged, according to Maciej Krych, Poland's consul general in Vancouver.

"The people in Poland are still in shock. They cannot believe something like this could happen in Canada,"

said Krych, who vowed that the Polish government will continue pressing the federal department of foreign affairs for answers.

Dziekanski was cremated following a private funeral two weeks ago.

His mother, who plans to keep part of her son's ashes with her in Kamloops and return part to Poland, said she hopes some good comes from her son's death. (...)

Among the nearly 300 people who attended the memorial service, a handful were outside carrying signs urging the RCMP to ban the use of Taser guns.

Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day has ordered a review of the weapon, but has resisted calls by critics galvanized by Dziekanski's death for a moratorium on the guns, which deliver 50,000 volts of electricity to their targets.

Since 2002, Amnesty International, which has advocated banning Tasers, reports that 17 people have died in Canada as a result of the weapon. CLIP

I've said it and said it: People who are having panic attacks and post traumatic stress episodes cannot be hit with tasars - and in fact, they DO fight back even though it will kill them - the MORE electricity runs through them, the MORE They fight back despite what the "training manuals" say.

In this particular case, there was never ever an emergency worker on the scene, although Robert was held in the airport for HOURS in distress. And yet, when the police DID come, and he calmed down they shot him and he died. Whether the TASAR did it or his neck was broken by the extreme police brutality applied, is yet to be determined.

Please sign and DON'T let there be a whitewash. We have already had 17 deaths here in Canada with tasars already. And there is an omnibus crime bill about to be passed to buy MORE of them; obviously the contract has been signed or Stockwell Day would not be taking this position.

Governor opposes polar bear protection

Environmentalists say Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is skating on thin ice [melt it] with her opposition to efforts to protect polar bears. Palin said last week that listing the bears as threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act because of possible global warming would open the floodgates for petitions to protect other species, the Anchorage Daily News said Thursday. Most polar bears could be lost by 2050: report

The research released on Friday was sent to the Fish and Wildlife Service. A decision on the bears' status is expected in January.

Without enough sea ice, polar bears would be forced onto land, but they are inefficient hunters once they get out of the water and ice, the researchers said. The bears' disappearance would probably take place as young cubs failed to survive to adulthood and females were unable to reproduce successfully.

The first polar bears probably first appeared about 40,000 to 50,000 years ago, and the species has not lived through a period as warm as the one predicted by the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the scientists said.

In a series of reports this year, the U.N. climate panel said with 90 percent probability that global climate change was occurring and that human activities contributed to it. The emission of greenhouse gases -- including carbon dioxide from petroleum-fueled vehicles and coal-fired power plants -- is the prime human cause of this warming trend, the panel said.

Global warming was an important topic of discussions of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum this week in Australia and will be the subject of a special U.N. meeting later this month.

Polar Bear SOS! Tell the Bush Administration to protect polar bears and their critical habitat. The Bush Administration's proposal to list the polar bear as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act is a crucial first step toward ensuring a future for these magnificent Arctic creatures. Yet the administration's proposal does not designate "critical habitat" for protection, even though melting habitat from global warming is the main threat to the polar bear's survival. CAUCUS TAKE A STAND ON KEY ISSUES

The Congressional Black Caucus, or CBC ought to represent the political will of Black America. Otherwise it has no reason to exist. Despite the great work of some Black representatives in Congress, the Caucus as a whole has failed to live up to its role as the principal advocate for African American communities on the national stage.



The petition contains 7 points which we believe rank high among the widely accepted and basic "bright lines" of Black political opinion in the U.S. They are spelled out in detail below, and also listed on the petition site:

WE DEMAND THAT THE CBC, INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY, TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO:



1. DISMANTLE RACIALLY SELECTIVE MASS INCARCERATION, beginning with action to sunset or repeal all mandatory sentencing legislation, eliminate the differential in penalties for crack and powdered cocaine, and halt privatization of prisons and prison health services. America's prison population has multiplied eightfold since 1970. African Americans are one-eighth of this nation, but fully half of her prisons and jails. Mass Black incarceration is a national public policy that destroys the prospects for progress in every arena of African American life.





2. AID AND EMPOWER THOSE DISPERSED AND DISPOSSESSED BY KATRINA through legislation that specifically recognizes the rights of hundreds of thousands of exiles to return to their communities under conditions of adequate housing, schools, health care, and social support. The CBC must demand that destruction of public housing and other affordable dwellings cease, and that affordable housing be constructed for the 70 percent of uprooted residents who were renters. Not one federal dime should be spent for programs that lead to further gentrification of New Orleans. The CBC should establish its own permanent Watchdog Unit to monitor all reconstruction activities.





3. END THE WAR IN IRAQ NOW through support of the Woolsey-Waters-Lee "Bring the Troops Home and Iraqi Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2007"; H.R. 508, and renunciation of George Bush's pre-emptive war doctrine in all its manifestations. The Bush war policy is a formula for endless global conflict, deterioration of the rule of law among nations, and growing impoverishment, indebtedness and evisceration of civil liberties at home. Further, the CBC must resist all attempts to draw the U.S. into war with Iran, and block covert and overt U.S. schemes for "regime change" elsewhere in the world, most notably in Venezuela.





4. GET THE U.S. MILITARY OUT OF AFRICA by withholding funds and authorization for a permanent string of U.S. military bases throughout oil-rich regions of Africa, from Djibouti and Ethiopia in the east to the Gulf of Guinea in the west. In January, the White House created a Pentagon Africa Command as part of its so-called Global War on Terror, thus targeting the continent for further militarization and destabilization. The CBC must create its own Watchdog Unit to monitor and expose administration plans to make Africa the next front in its wars to seize the world's resources.





5. TRANSFORM THE CITIES AND CREATE MILLIONS OF JOBS through a massive program similar to the U.S. post-war Marshall Plan that rebuilt Europe, or the much larger federal programs that established national infrastructure necessary for the creation of an almost exclusively white American suburbia during the same period. Integral to this project must be creation of GOOD JOBS AT GOOD WAGES for the residents of the cities, good schools to educate young people who will fill those jobs, and democratic participation of residents in the transformation of their neighborhoods and hometowns. The CBC must unequivocally support the Employee Free Choice Act and other measures that allow employees on any job to organize unions wherever and whenever they choose.





6. ESTABLISH TRULY UNIVERSAL, SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE for all Americans, by endorsing HR 676, co-sponsored by Reps. John Conyers and Dennis Kucinich, as a first step toward a single payer system of national health insurance. 15-30% of every American health care dollar pays for advertising, shareholder profit and other non-health care costs. Medicare, Medicaid and single payer systems like the Canadian one spend 97 to 99 cents of every dollar on health care. These are the only practical ways to deliver health care to all Americans. Any proposal that further entrenches private profit further delays the advent of a genuine national health care program, thus making inevitable the unnecessary death of millions of Americans.





7. ENSURE VOTING RIGHTS through measures to require verifiable paper trails, along with enforceable guarantees that every citizen has an equal opportunity to vote, and an equal chance to see that vote counted. The 2000 and 2004 presidential elections were both thrown by the selective nullifications of tens of thousands of black votes in Florida and Ohio. The CBC must support all measures that reinstate the franchise to persons who have served out their criminal sentences.
